The Everglades
For years, botanists from around the world have marveled at the number of plant species, both tropical and temperate, living side by side in southern Florida. Palms and other tropical trees such as the gumbolimbo (Bursera simaruba) and mahogany (Swietenia mahagoni) grow in jumbled harmony alongside willows, pines, and oaks festooned with Spanish moss.
