Quality of life. This is a “new” term that has worked its way into our vocabularies in the past few years. Whereas for a few decades the focus was on more “things”, more money, more professional advancement, “more” proof of our material success... now our focus is changing to the quality of our life, of our environment, or our relationships.

Does that mean that anything “commercial” is bad? that anything material is to be shunned? Of course not. We are not living a monk’s existence. We are living in the 21st century and are seeking to attain balance between our “material” existence and our “spiritual” one. It has been said that we are spiritual beings having a physical (or material) experience - not that we are spiritual beings having an out-of-body experience (though we do that every night when we sleep and dream!).

The quality of our physical or material experience is what we are now questioning. Our life is no longer about “having more”, but more about having quality... quality in our relationships, and in our “things”. It is not about having a bigger car, or bigger house, or “keeping up with the Jones”, but more about having a healthier and happier experience of life. Becoming more in tune with ourselves and with our environment. Learning to appreciate the beauty all around us, using the tools at our disposal, and “giving back” for what we have received.

This chapter offers you “things”, but the purpose of these “things” is to enhance your life, whether from a perspective of physical, emotional, or mental health, or to provide you with beauty, energy, and appreciation of the bounties of our planet Earth and its many gifts. Some of the products offer ways to “protect” yourself from the effects of our technology and pollution, other products enhance your health, others provide more knowledge and access to wisdom, and some products are meant to raise your energy level and give a you a new perception of life and of yourself, others simply to add beauty to your life.
